Instruction

Provision of planning consultancy advice and preparation of anapplication to obtain permission for the conversion and change of use of disused public buildings on Clacton-on-Sea Seafront.

Project Details

LPP secured permission for the change of use and alterations to the former public conveniences and beach patrol facility, as well as a shelter and hut at Clacton Seafront, in order for them to become Multi Use Micro Venues and provide associated cycle and refuse storage. The buildings had been disused for some time and had been subject to anti-social behaviour and vandalism. Regard was had to the prominent location and proximity to heritage assets and the Conservation Area in order to ensure the project proposals were in-keeping with the surroundings, whilst still being able to bring forward a modern venue space. The site has retained its Beach Patrol facility and as such remains a pivotal feature for the seaside town. Works to implement the permission are due to begin in Autumn 2026.
